Ed
Storti (International Certified Alcohol Drug
Counselor, Intervention Specialist) has been
practicing motivational intervention
techniques for over thirty years, winning the
loyalty of clinics and the gratitude of clients in
over 3000 interventions.
Ed's
philosophy is to present treatment as a gift to the
addicted person in a positive atmosphere of
dignity, trust and compassion.
Ed
has presented his motivational intervention process
("The Storti Model") to students and staff at
clinics around the country, at UCLA's Medical
Center and at its School of Dentistry. His
motivational intervention method ("The Storti
Method") and staff training have been implemented
at WillingWay (Georgia), Oasis Treatment Center
(Anaheim, CA), Promises Treatment Center (Malibu
and West Los Angeles, CA), Cirque Lodge (Utah), The
University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute
(Utah) and the Betty Ford Center.
Ed
has been on numerous television and radio talk
shows over the years. He has been featured in two
television documentaries: "The Party's Over" on
Lifetime, and "The Journey Back" on PBS.
His
first book, "Crisis Intervention: Acting Against
Addiction", was published in 1988.
Ed
is also the author of "Heart to Heart: The
Honorable Approach to Motivational Intervention",
available in a new edition from this web site, and
was a contributing author to the book "Addiction
Recovery Tools" (editor Robert Holman Coombs, 2001,
Sage Publications).
Ed
earned an A.A. in Psychology in 1974 and a B.A. in
Psychology and Sociology in 1975. He afterwards
conducted graduate work in the Rehabilitation
Program at the University of Southern California.
In addition to being an Internationally Certified
Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor, he is a
California Certified Alcohol and drug Counselor and
Registered Addiction Specialist. His professional
affiliations include: the National Association of
Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, the
California Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse
Counselors, and the Association of Intervention
Specialists.
Ed
