LECTURE SERIES FOR TREATMENT PROVIDERS
PROFESSIONALISM IN THE WORKPLACE
This staff presentation originated over 30 years of visiting and viewing treatment centers through the eyes of the prospective client. In addition, it was developed at the request of CEO’s from treatment centers throughout the United States. My ultimate goal through these teaching seminars is to set a benchmark as it pertains to staff image and professionalism and as it is seen though the eyes of the consumer. Topics to be discussed are:
- Attitude
- Professionalism
- Dress
- Ethics
- Product Knowledge
- Staff Recommendations
It is my hope that the audience will understand the importance of this presentation and will encourage their colleagues to observe and practice the recommendations.
MOTIVATIONAL INTERVENTION
The intervention procedure to be presented in this workshop will be based upon experience from more than 3,500 cases. This well-defined process is molded around a positive, inspirational and loving technique. Motivational Intervention yields a very high success rate. Ninety-five percent of those intervened upon enter a treatment center the day of the intervention. With this dynamic process of intervening--family, friends and loved ones present positive experiences to the patient and honor them for that day. There is normally no leverage or consequences given to the patient. The intervention discussion will include the following:
- Five Stages to the Storti Model
- Inquirer’s--Basic Six Steps
- Eight Demands by the Public
- Short Term Goals/Long Term Goals
- Assessment Process
- Intervention Technique
- Escort Protocol
- Follow-up
- Risk Factors
Upon completion, the attendee will have an understanding of a systematic approach to Motivational Intervention.
DISEASE OF APPETITE
This presentation explains and expands on the theory that an addict may not have a chance when society asks, Why can’t one stop, be sociable, control or maintain one’s use? This presentation includes the following:
- Six Pieces to the Puzzle of Addiction (prior to your first jolt of any drug).
- Addictive character traits—seen in most addictive clients.
This presentation will enlighten the attendee in gaining self-awareness and enthusiasm regarding their treatment and future. This talk has a motivational and inspirational theme. It is hoped, through the disease of addiction, that the attendee will see himself or herself as having a rebirth and the capability of a lifetime of success.
