New Web Site Focuses On Drug and Alcohol Intervention
Paul K. Ward, 1/4/99

Ed Storti (ICADC, Intervention Specialist) inaugurated a Web site featuring basic information for the everyday person about how to help their loved ones who are addicted to drugs or alcohol. "Everyone has heard of the Betty Ford Clinic because of their dedication to helping people with addiction. It is one of the finest treatment centers in the United States. They actively embrace intervention as a method of getting patients to seek help."

The intervention procedure can help most families in getting help for their loved one with an addiction. Mr. Storti works with a variety of clinics to make sure the patient gets exactly the right kind of care for their locale, budget, and other factors.

The first step is to let concerned loved ones discover their options. "At our new Web site, you can get an overview of how intervention works. You can also contact several top clinics who've been gracious enough to allow our site to click through to theirs. The community wants to help," he continued.

The site includes testimonials from patients, families and the directors of major clinics from around the United States on the value of Mr. Storti's intervention techniques. In addition, it includes contact information for major clinics. "I have close relationships with all the major clinics. They've been wonderful to work with, helping me streamline the admission process for new patients. I want to make sure these clinics get the attention they deserve, and naturally I believe in their work, so I'm proud to recommend them."

Mr. Storti has created a series of answers to frequently asked questions that include the latest information about interventions and drug addiction. These answers also reflect decades of experience in over 3000 interventions personally supervised by Mr. Storti, a leader in the field and the founder of a "model" of intervention that emphasizes motivating the patient to receive care on their own.

Mr. Storti's book, "Heart to Heart: The Honorable Approach to Motivational Intervention," emphasizes that interventions don't have to be performed to "break someone down" in order to convince them to enter treatment. His "model", which he tunes to each client's needs, has shown phenomenal success rates. "Intervention succeeds. It saves lives," said Mr. Storti. "I also think it works best when the patient motivates themselves to enter treatment. It leverages love, not despair."

Lucid Web Solutions designed the site to be user-friendly. "I wanted visitors to be able to understand intervention every step of the way," said Paul Ward, principal at LWS. "I also wanted people to be able to print the pages and run with them. The site is helpful because you can create a 'hard copy' and share it with your family and friends, who will no doubt take a part in making the decision to call an interventionist like Mr. Storti." The site was designed to inform and motivate its visitors. "The site will be successful if families and loved ones discover that there is hope for the addicted person," said Mr. Ward.

Ed Storti (ICADC, Intervention Specialist) has been practicing Motivational Interventionsm techniques for decades, winning the loyalty of clinics and the gratitude of clients in over 3000 interventions.
